THE SAILING FOUNDATION TO HOST THE 2020 OPTIMIST NORTHWEST CHAMPIONSHIP
September 11-13, 2020
Seattle, WA
USODA is pleased to announce that 'The Sailing Foundation' has been selected to host the 2020 Optimist Northwest Championship to be held September 11 - 13. This event will serve as a Qualifier for the 2021 USODA Team Trials regatta.

The event will take place at Sail Sand Point, Seattle’s Community Boating Center. Sail Sand Point was founded 1998 by passionate sailors and their families in order to create sailing opportunities and small boat programs for youth and adults in the greater Seattle area. It is one of the premier venues for hosting large events in the Northwest. Each year it hosts nearly a dozen high school, college, and youth racing circuit events. It has hosted the ICSA Spring National Semi-Finals, US Sailing Junior Women’s Singlehanded National Championships, and last year it hosted the ISSA Mallory Championship and the Optimist Northwest Championship.

Sail Sand Point is located in Seattle’s Warren G. Magnuson Park on beautiful Lake Washington. The facility and the surrounding buildings were formerly a naval base. A large pier, three paved boat launches, and several smaller floats provide excellent access to the water. Racing will take place on Lake Washington. Winds in mid-September are typically light to moderate with mild temperatures and generally sunny conditions.

Mark your calendars and look for the NOR to be published shortly.
