Coaches Selected for 2021 Summer & Fall International Teams

 

THE INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE USODA IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THE COACHES FOR THE USODA’S 2021 SUMMER & FALL INTERNATIONAL TEAMS

 

 

On behalf of the International Committee we would like to thank all of the coaches who applied for a 2021 summer & fall international team. This years selection process has been the most competitive ever, 34 coaches applied for nineteen positions, a 8% chance of being selected to a position, making the competition fierce and our task difficult.

 

The process of selecting coaches includes review of objective and subjective materials, discussions as a committee, and a tally vote system. In truth, it is usually difficult for us to point to obvious weaknesses, when so many of you have demonstrated real achievement and promise. In our selections we strived for a balance of coaching experiences, a cohesion of the coaches & team leaders, development for both the sailors and coaches, as well as, regatta management, event strategy, and performance strategy needed for the teams.For those coaches who were not selected, we hope that you will understand the decisions as a reflection only of the extraordinary talent represented in the applicant pool, not a judgement about your own abilities. All 34 coaches are fully capable of adding value to our USA teams. Thus, we will be sharing your names to the USNT and ODP2 programs. Please apply again, as we look forward to you coaching a USA Team in the near future.
