2021 Team Trials Update

 

USODA and Lakewood Yacht Club continue to move ahead with plans for 2021 Team Trials!  We want to take this opportunity to thank all of you that signed up to indicate interest for the event.

 

As a start, the event will have a 200 boat entry cap.  While we expect this number may increase, there are no guarantees, so we need to proceed conservatively.  A new event will be set up on the website, and registration will take place by ‘Application Only’.  The Notice of Race will be posted shortly, and we will pre-announce the date and time that application registration will open, as well as the timeline of accepting sailors who have applied.  Only sailors who have submitted an online application will be considered, in the following order:

 

1. 2020 TTQ Sailors
2. 2021 Age-outs
3. 2019-2020 ODP2 Program Sailors not included in 1 and 2
4. Additional sailors as space permits.  Factors taken into consideration in accepting additional sailors may include, but not be limited to:
• Coach recommendation/endorsement
• Appropriate opposite sex representation
• Regional representation
• Time stamp on Application
• Indication of Interest Registration received

 

During the application registration, competitors will once again be asked to confirm they have reviewed, and agree to, the Team Trials Readiness Checklist, as well as indicate which, if any, summer international teams they would be interested in attending.

 

What do you need to do?

• Keep an eye out for emails, website and social media announcements
• Check the Event Website often for updates
• For sailors who fall under #4 above, be prepared to submit a few bullet points about your recent sailing successes, as well as the name of a coach that will support your participation in the event

 

Thank you all for your patience and understanding during the past 9 months.  We know how difficult they have been for our young sailors, and are working hard to continue running events as best we can, while keeping everyone’s health and safety as a top priority.
